Baskets

Traditional woven baskets from Papua New Guinea are crafted using reeds that grow near swampy areas or rivers and cane found in the bush. Preparing the materials for weaving is labor-intensive and takes over two to three months. Both men and women engage in basket weaving, depending on the region of the country and the type of basket that is woven. Despite the challenges in preparation, the weavers dedicate significant time and effort to create their baskets with exceptional skill and accuracy.
