Asaro Mud-Man

The Asaro mud mask is called Holosas which means spirit. The Asaro people would paint themselves using the soft mud to appear as spirit and scare away their enemies to protect their land. Their warriors also wear the masks as a disguise for their revenges. It also serves as a mourning practice for the deceased and it’s a significant part of their cultural heritage.
